Train helicopter controllers in safe tactical control of small ship helicopter flights, exercise organic flight safety, correct response to emergencies, passing of information, homing of lost or distressed aircraft, interaction with Weapon Directors, timely recovery and briefing.
- Provides training and simulation for helicopter controllers in approaches/ landing on small ship flight decks
- CBT and simulator based training
- Conduct training for single spot and multi-spot helicopter operations
- Correctly execute standard and emergency procedures
- Respond to system information, Pilot/Air crewman visual signals and verbal direction from the Instructor in order to fulfi l the Landing Safety Officer role
- Respond to verbal communications from the Instructor
- Provide visual commands to all ground crew personnel
- Practice radar control of helicopter approach to flight deck or landing site
